St. Mary’s College of Maryland, the St. Mary’s County Commission for Women, and the Healthy St. Mary’s Partnership are pleased to present “When Dating Hurts: A Conversation on Dating and Domestic Violence with Bill Mitchell” on February 8, 2022. This virtual event will raise awareness about dating and domestic violence. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the warning signs of unhealthy relationships and techniques to help themselves or a loved one safely exit an unhealthy relationship.
We are honored to have speaker and author Bill Mitchell join us to share his story. Bill tragically lost his daughter Kirstin to dating violence in 2015, and since then, he has passionately spoken out for education about the warning signs and dangerous consequences of dating violence.
We are also pleased to offer a Virtual Book Club throughout February to coincide with this event and Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. The book club will highlight key excerpts from Bill Mitchell’s book “When Dating Hurts.”
Teens are in particular invited to join the first and third meetings of this Zoom book club.
Parents or families together are especially invited to join in on the second and fourth book club sessions via Zoom.
The Book Club will take place on the following dates/times:
- Teen Book Club
- Thursday, February 3 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
- Thursday, February 17 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
- Parents/Families Book Club
- Thursday, February 10 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
- Thursday, February 24 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
The book can be purchased for Kindle or in paperback via Amazon; however, please don’t let the cost of the book deter you from joining! Please reach out to us at stmaryspartnership@gmail.com as we have several copies of the book available.
This Virtual Book Club is sponsored by The Cove/DFZ of Walden, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, the St. Mary’s County Commission for Women, and the Healthy St. Mary’s Partnership.
